Mentoring sessions run every Thursday from March 17th 2022 to June 2nd 2022 and from August 4th 2022 to October 20th 2022.  The daily schedule (including lecture times for university students) is listed below:

Counselling Meeting

Counselling team meets to discuss, and plan for, needs of young people involved in the programme

EDUC 747 Lecture

EDUC 747 students will attend fortnightly lectures covering post-graduate material in addition to the weekly course lectures below

09:00am – 10:00am

Course Lecture

Key theory and youth mentoring concepts are presented and discussed for direct application to practice in the coming mentoring session

10:00am – 10:30am

Walk and Talk

Youth arrive and take a 30-minute walk around the University of Auckland campus with their mentor whānau group

10:30am – 11:30am

Supporting Transition Success

With the support of student leaders, mentors work with the young people on youth-identified transition plans and personal goals

11:30am – 12:00pm

Whānau-style Lunch

Youth and mentors and other student participants enjoy a shared meal provided by Campus Connections

12:00pm – 01:00pm

01:00pm – 02:00pm

 

Pro-social Activities

Mentors and youth participate in activities (e.g., educational, sports, music, art) with other Campus Connections student leaders and participants

02:00pm – 03.00pm

Group Debrief and Programme Admin

Mentors, student counsellors and programme leaders, discuss personal highs and lows from the day’s session to provide support and guidance for working with the youth participants
